Hi! My name is Betsy Craske, and I am an educator, an active community member, and a mom. I am a long time Ward 1 resident, and I am running for city council because I am committed to Missoula being a livable community for all.
I believe in collaboration and open & thoughtful conversation as essential tools to guide decision making as our community continues to grow. I’m committed to listening to constituents and using these discussions to guide decision making at the city level. I am dedicated to learning the ins and outs of local government to best serve you.
I hope you’ll join me in advocating for Ward 1 in Missoula!

who is
Betsy Craske?
Missoula is my home, and my work here is always rooted in my values of collaboration and connection. I have had plenty of incredible opportunities to work and learn within this community.
I am a proud graduate of the University of Montana with a degree in Environmental Studies and a Masters of Science in Science Education from Montana State University. I have spent 15 years teaching in various educational settings, most recently as a classroom teacher. The heart of teaching is about forming a personal connection with every student, parent, colleague, and community partner. My experience as an educator and in school leadership has helped me hone the interpersonal skills needed to serve on city council.
I have said that I wish I could be a professional volunteer. From coaching youth nordic skiing and mountain biking to political canvassing to climate advocacy to native plant restoration to serving on local boards, I love giving my time to the people and lands in our community. Serving on city council might just be the closest I can get to being a professional volunteer!
I love Missoula, I love Montana, and I look forward to representing you in this great place we all call home.

platform & priorities
1. HOUSING
Affordable housing, support for unhoused, housing opportunities
Missoula is growing and the best way we can support that growth for our current residents is to find solutions for affordable housing, support our unhoused residents, and ensure there are sufficient housing opportunities for all who make Missoula their home.
2. CONNECTED NEIGHBORHOODS
Pedestrian infrastructure, sustainable transportation, public safety
From sidewalks to bike lanes to public transportation, we’ll work together to invest in neighborhoods that are safe and connected places so residents can access the services they need.
3. CLIMATE
Climate resiliency, renewable energy, healthy ecosystems
Working in partnership with people and organizations dedicated to creative and sustainable environmental solutions, we can make Missoula a leader in climate action.
4. HEALTHCARE
Affordable, comprehensive, easy to access care
Healthcare is a human right, and a thriving Missoula depends on the health and wellbeing of all of it’s residents.
5. INCLUSIVE AND VIBRANT COMMUNITY
Opportunities for the smallest to the tallest
We'll create more spaces for dialogue, more support for all ages and backgrounds, and policies rooted in equity and representation. We need to ensure that Missoulians have ample opportunities for dignified work, access to essential resources, and places to learn, grow, recreate, and thrive.
